SESSIONS
10:00 A.M. — Shop and chat with your fellow learners and the presenting authors as you nibble on light refreshments. If you'd like to bring a water bottle, there is a water fountain right outside the room. A variety of tea and coffee options will be available as well.
10:30 a.m. — Welcome and Overview
10:40 a.m. — Bobby Nash: "Writing Savvy Sleuths & Sinister Suspects"
With decades of experience in the publishing world, Bobby Nash knows a thing or two about writing villains you love to hate and heroes you love to root for. This session will cover how to manage reader expectations, character development, and motivations related to writing both.
11:35 a.m. — Thomas Mullen: "Getting Your Characters Into (and Out of) Trouble"
Learn how to manage the relationship between strong character development and titillating suspense so that your well-orchestrated story can bring out the best of both.
12:20 p.m. — Lunch. Grab your meal and a buddy and munch away (at the **meal**, not the buddy)!
12:50 p.m. — Peggy Ehrhart: "Create Clues That Advance Your Plot and Puzzle Your Readers"
This session will help you understand the difference between "real" clues and red herrings so you can leverage both to keep your readers turning pages.
1:45 p.m. — L. M. Whitaker: "7 Tips for Writing Successful Scenes"
Learn seven strategies for crafting scenes that are essential, engaging, and exciting.
